Prana Monarch Convertible Pants Review

So I was lucky enough to  try an item from Prana’s new line of fall athletic wear! So let me preface this with a) I LOVE fall clothes, I love layers, and scarves, and boots and anything that looks cozy and warm. Unfortunately in California we don’t get to wear these clothes until November, but it’s still my favorite wardrobe.

So when I got the chance to try out these new pants my first thought was…. Eeek…convertible pants? What are we in grade school wearing tear-aways again? ‘(If you can figure out how old I am from that comment you get bonus points). Regardless, I am happy to say that I was very surprised with how much I love these pants!!

First off, they are perfect for work. About once a week I need to dress in something that looks a little more professional than yoga pants but allow me the flexibility to move and bend with my clients. These pants look stylish, professional, and have nice deep pockets to stash all my stuff. And as the name suggests they do convert into shorts! So last week, when it was cool in the mornings but 90 degrees during the day I unzipped them and was so grateful for the air! When zipped up the zippers are hidden which is a nice bonus.

I ordered the long length because regular inseams are usually a tad short. Warning, they are REALLY long (I am going to hem them once I get around to it!), so if you are on the fence go with the regular inseam. As for sizing, I ordered a 6 and could of went with either a 6 or a 4 since the fabric doesn’t shrink.

The other thing I love about these Prana pants is that they have a drawstring on the inside. I am naturally blessed with wide hips and a small waist, which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to find structured pants that fit well.  I LOVE that these pants have a hidden drawstring so I could cinch up the waist, and they fit just right across my hips. Amazing.

The fabric is a Stretch ‘Zion’ performance woven with a water repellent finish and would be perfect for hiking and other activities where you are likely to get dirty. The dirt brushes right off!

Take home points: Comfortable, stylish, practical, and perfect for fall. Can’t wait to wear these on our next family hike!
