How your diastasis recti could be affecting your pelvic floor‼️

Our abdominals are connected to our pelvic floor through a layer of fascia. When our abdominals aren’t working correctly, our pelvic floor may not be able to either. So DR and pelvic floor dysfunction can sometimes go hand in hand.

Bottom Line…THESE MUSCLES NEED TO BE IN SYNC.

? When we work our deep core muscles…we can also strengthen our pelvic floor. Hence why many of the common exercises we give people for DR, are also pelvic floor exercises (think diaphragmatic breathing, bridges, transverse abdominis exercises)

Lastly, when we have less support through our core, or muscle imbalances, our pelvic floor has to work harder to support your internal organs.

So treating one or the other, can often help both and prevent more issues like pelvic organ prolapse long term.

Do you have DR, have you been doing exercises to focus on this?
