Manitoba Harvest Hemp Bar Review

I was recently sent these snack bars from Manitoba harvest for a review and I’m so glad! I love quick, healthy snacks on the go, so I thought these would fit in nicely with my busy lifestyle. I was a bit hesitant because I am not all that familiar with hemp and its benefits. When I think hemp, I think of the stuff I made jewelery out of as a kid, doesn’t sound very appetizing!

Egg Cup Recipe

Goooood morning!

The start of the new year was also the start of a new eating program for me. As a busy mom, personal trainer, and fitness addict, my food consumption wasn’t enough to sustain the amount of energy I was putting out so I knew I had to make some changes. Let me say this….eating MORE food is sometimes harder than eating less! Before, I would skip breakfast if I didn’t have enough time in the morning or was distracted by my daughter and not even notice, But now, skipping breakfast is a big problem. After getting used to eating 5-6 times a day, not eating in the morning makes me very HANGRY. I made these great little egg cups last night and they reheated so well! Accountability creates Actions

Happy Holidays!

It’s almost New Years, the time of year where everyone feels the need to ‘change’. This year, let’s forget about resolutions. Instead, let’s set realistic goals and develop a plan to make them happen. Want to know the number one reason a person abandons their resolutions? Lack of planning and accountability.

Let me tell you a story about when I first learned the importance of accountability when it comes to exercise. Almost 10 years ago when I was a young, fresh, personal trainer I got a job at a cute boutique gym by my house in Ontario, Canada. This gym was known for providing excellent personal training services, and one of the perks of the job was that I got to train with another experienced trainer myself.

Of course I was super pumped… this was perfect! I was going to be lean and sculpted while learning everything I could to pass on to my own clients. So I chose my trainer and was all ready to start, until he said, “the only time I have is 7am. Does that work?” Seven AM?! At 19 years old (yes, I was so young!), I was a full time student during the day, personal trainer in the evenings, and bartender on the weekends…the last thing I wanted to do was get to the gym at 7 am to workout. But this was my chance, and it was free, so I figured I would give it a shot.

I was there at 7 am 3x a week for three months straight. I never slept in and never missed a session because I knew my coworker would be there waiting for me and he would be super disappointed if I didn’t show. I just couldn’t let him down.

At the end of the three months I a) got in wicked shape b) almost became a morning person and c) felt super proud of myself for going outside of my comfort zone and pushing myself to the next level.

Moral of the story is, ACCOUNTABILITY is KEY to sticking with a new goal. Even people in the business (like myself) require motivation and commitment to continue a program and not just give up and go back to our old ways. How many workout programs have you started and never finished? Or maybe you have workout DVDs sitting there collecting dust, or a deflated exercise ball in the corner.
